Who is ECCAWUSA?
ECCAWUSA is a registered Trade Union Affiliated to NACTU (National Council of Trade Unions). ECCAWUSA has been, since 1994, devoted to organizing workers, representing, protecting and advancing workers’ rights and interests.
Our scope includes workers in Hotels, Catering, Services, Supermarkets, Hypermarkets, Variable Merchandise Stores, Wholesale Stores, Cinemas, Theatre and Live-Entertainment Arena, Cleaning Services & Associated Sectors. We take pride in them and their work.
ECCAWUSA is founded on unshakable and resolute values/principles of:

These principles are, as it were, the apple of ECCAWUSA’s eye. Thus we are committed to serving the needs of our members, to improving their working conditions and enriching the quality of life for all workers.
Over-and-above, we obligate ourselves to preserving the militant, yet non-violent, traditions for which South African workers are globally known in their struggle for decent work. With ECCAWUSA there is only one way you will go; and that way is up.
Our Mission (fight our enemies in the New South Africa)
The new democratic dispensation has brought with it triumph over the apartheid regime, which saw us liberated politically and racially (albeit in part). However socio-economically, the struggle still continues. We have old and new devils that must be fought, in unison, by the whole working class. These enemies include:
- Massive Retrenchments
- High Unemployment Rates
- Poverty
- Low Wage Increase
- Wage Freezes & Shrinking Wages
- “Regulated” Flexibility
- Casualization
- Precarious Contract Employment
- Subcontracting & Outsourcing
- Labor Brokers, etc.
Our mission is to actively ensure that these and other enemies of the workers are obliterated or, at the very least, decline in South Africa’s employment practices and environment.
